A story view is a recorded interaction with a post. It contains no direct question, invitation or agreement to keep talking. The viewer list cannot tell you whether the viewing was deliberate, habitual or meaningful to him.

If what you want is a conversation, a direct invitation gives that wish a clear form. If you do not want to start one, a view creates no new task for you and needs no reply.
